Facebook Update

Here's a fun story from a recent wedding I was a part of...

Rich and Lauren got married about a month ago...wedding on the beach, reception at my church. As I'm stuffing my face full of most excellent wedding food with some friends and family, my wife mentions that the happy couple will be soon updating their Facebook status from "engaged" to "married".

If you know anything about Facebook, you know that it's basically THE communication method of choice for us 20-somethings, and changing your relational status ("single" "in a relationship" etc.) is just about the biggest thing you can do. Most couples have to wait until after the wedding or honeymoon for internet access to change their profiles to let the world know they are indeed officially married, but I immediately realized I could help make a memorable 21st century wedding moment right then and there! I grabbed Rich and whispered to him that I could allow he and Lauren update their Facebook live during the reception, on the big screen in our church that had been playing videos and pictures that evening.

Here's a photo, courtesy of the uber-talented David Molnar, of the moment that nobody will forget...

I'm a genius...I only wish we had done this at MY wedding...but, of course, Facebook was only a pipe dream at that point...

Front Door

Tricia is my wife and Gwyneth Rose is my daughter. These shots were taken in mid June in our home in NC by our front door...one of my favorite places to shoot because of the indirect sunlight. Tricia took the shots of Gwyneth and I together.

Mom

Sorry for the late post...with two sick ladies in my house this past weekend, and a birthday to plan, I ran out of time. But, it gave me a few more days to get a few good pics....

How did you do at capturing Mom this week? Post a link to your mom photos!

I'm holding off until next week before picking our next theme...still a busy week here at home and need that extra time. So, if you haven't yet, scroll down to the next post and submit a suggestion for next week's theme!

This Week's Theme Is...

I'll be posting the photos from this past week's theme later today, so get ready to link yourself if you've also taken up the challenge...in the meantime...

In order to help inspire my creativity and propel my photography, I'm inviting my readers to suggest a photography theme every week. On Tuesday of every week (I may take a week off here or there), I'll post asking my readers for suggestions for a theme for my photography...I'll spend that week creatively shooting that theme and post the photos at some point (hopefully (I'll try really hard) by Tuesday of the following week). I'm especially looking for themes that I can use as I shoot my normal life (my daughter, my wife, my pets, my home, my neighborhood, my friends, etc.).

For example, you might suggest my theme for the week be "Swings" or "Bright" or "Snow In May". It's Tuesday morning, which means you have 24 hours to make a suggestion, and then I'll pick one theme for that week and have about 6 days to shoot and post a few (or maybe a lot) of photos based on that theme. My readers are welcome to join me in this weekly challenge!

This week's photography theme is (leave a suggestion or two, not the same as the suggestions you make last week!)...

Emotions

Now that you've had a chance to check out the photos below and come up with your own opinions as to the emotions going on, I thought I'd share with you what was really happening...

Well, I should have remembered that I don't like shooting candid photos of people when I said that this week's challenge would be "easy"...I had some good ideas, none of which materialized very well. But, I did get a few good shots that I thought I would share. I'll let you decide what kind of emotions you see in these...

Wonderment (while watching Baby Einstein)
Contentment (after sleeping in this same spot all day)
Fear and Sadness (after waking up from a nap in a strange place)
Shyness (she's always been shy around the camera)
Joy (probably from being tickled by this new stuff called "grass")

How did you do at capturing emotions this week? Post a link to your Emotions photos!
