Wedding Bells for Jessica Claire!

Just taking a moment out of my normal schedule to say congratulations to one of the sweetest and most awesomely talented photographers ever, Jessica Claire. Today is Jessica's wedding day, and I for one can't wait to see the photos of her incredibly unique and, I'm sure, beautiful wedding. You may remember that Jessica blessed us with a beautiful gift of a photo shoot (Here) just after Tricia was discharged from her transplant surgery...we treasure those photographs for many reasons, and are so thankful for Jessica's heart and her friendship.

Have a totally awesome day, Jessica!

Beach Session - The Carmichael Family

Karen has been following the story of my wife and daughter for a while now...she and her family decided to vacation on the OBX this summer and invited me for a photo shoot. Big families are fun and challenging, but the weather was perfect (and cool for August), and the beach in front of their rental house couldn't have provided a better location.

The great-grandkids...

Low tide is perfect for walking along the water...and the reflection makes for a great photo.

From experience, I can tell you that there is nothing better than kisses from your daughter(s).

Wet sand, sea shells and little feet make for a beautiful shot...

Love the expression on dad's face...

Lots of mist in the air thanks to Hurricane Bill...didn't give us much sunlight, but still great for wide shots...

One of my favorite shots from the evening...

Thanks Carmichael family for a great shoot! Have an awesome vacation, and a safe trip home!

Tell me which is your favorite photo from this shoot!

Beach Session - The Meyers Family

I've been looking to gain some more experience shooting family sessions on the beach, especially with young children...Brad and Rebecca are friends of mine, and when I asked the Meyers if they'd be interested in a beach shoot, I got a very enthusiastic "YES!" They're obviously a beautiful family with a lot of love between them...even the kids were totally cool with a few hugs and kisses.

One of my favorite shots of the kids...

When I told the kids it was time to get in the water, one wasn't too sure about wet jeans while the other jumped in head-first...you can probably figure out who got soaked and who stayed dry...

I love shooting with the sun in front of me...

Maybe my favorite shot of the day...

Lots of love...

Lots of laughter...

And a little bit of silliness...

Kids jeans are the coolest, especially with a little water and sand...

My wife's favorite...

I love the tenderness between the kids here...

And, how do you get two little ones to spend an hour in front of a camera in the late evening? Bribe them with some Rita's Water Ice, of course!

Thanks Meyers family for a great time and being such wonderful subjects to shoot. I hope we can do it again in a few years!

Tell me which is your favorite photo from this shoot!

Facebook Update

Here's a fun story from a recent wedding I was a part of...

Rich and Lauren got married about a month ago...wedding on the beach, reception at my church. As I'm stuffing my face full of most excellent wedding food with some friends and family, my wife mentions that the happy couple will be soon updating their Facebook status from "engaged" to "married".

If you know anything about Facebook, you know that it's basically THE communication method of choice for us 20-somethings, and changing your relational status ("single" "in a relationship" etc.) is just about the biggest thing you can do. Most couples have to wait until after the wedding or honeymoon for internet access to change their profiles to let the world know they are indeed officially married, but I immediately realized I could help make a memorable 21st century wedding moment right then and there! I grabbed Rich and whispered to him that I could allow he and Lauren update their Facebook live during the reception, on the big screen in our church that had been playing videos and pictures that evening.

Here's a photo, courtesy of the uber-talented David Molnar, of the moment that nobody will forget...

I'm a genius...I only wish we had done this at MY wedding...but, of course, Facebook was only a pipe dream at that point...

Front Door

Tricia is my wife and Gwyneth Rose is my daughter. These shots were taken in mid June in our home in NC by our front door...one of my favorite places to shoot because of the indirect sunlight. Tricia took the shots of Gwyneth and I together.

Sorry for the late post...with two sick ladies in my house this past weekend, and a birthday to plan, I ran out of time. But, it gave me a few more days to get a few good pics....

How did you do at capturing Mom this week? Post a link to your mom photos!

I'm holding off until next week before picking our next theme...still a busy week here at home and need that extra time. So, if you haven't yet, scroll down to the next post and submit a suggestion for next week's theme!
