Turtle

One of the great things about North Carolina is her wildlife. This is the Eastern Box Turtle, the NC state reptile and the only land turtle native to NC. Guessing from it's size (about 8" long), this turtle is probably about 10-15 years old. These shots were taken in front of my parents' house (too bad it wasn't an alligator snapping turtle...yes, I have also seen a few of these in my parents' yard). The red eyes are sweet!
